Fix missing Freeview channels on BT TV
Follow these steps to get your missing Freeview channels back on your TV box.
Before you start
- check your TV aerial cable is plugged into the RF IN port on your TV box
- make sure the cable is secure at both ends
Check your area for signal problems
This can happen if there's a problem with the TV signal reaching your box.
- Check the aerial cable is securely connected to your TV box.
- Check whether the channel is available in your area using the Freeview channel checker.
- Go to Settings > Signal & Connection > TV Signal Quality and check the signal for the affected channel.
- Try another aerial socket if you have one.
- Go to Settings > Signal & Connection > Retune Channels to retune your channels.
- Restart your TV box.
Bad weather, building work, electrical equipment or a problem with your aerial can also affect your TV signal.
You can check Digital UK to see if there's any planned works in your area which might affect service in your area.
Don't forget: In IP mode, some channels aren't shown in the TV Guide but are available through apps in the Main Menu. See our BT TV Channel Guide for detail.
Retune your channels
- Press Home (or YouView) on your remote.
- Go to Settings.
- Select TV Channels.
- Choose Retune channels and press OK.
- Your channels should now appear.
If this doesn’t work
Check your aerial connection:
- make sure the aerial cable is not loose or damaged
- try reconnecting the cable firmly
Try another retune
- repeat the steps above
- wait until the scan fully completes
