What are groups and how to manage them

This feature lets you place a number of devices in a group making them easier to manage. For example, a “Kid’s Devices” group could include all your children’s devices (such as a phone, laptop, games console). You can then control the group with a few taps, by applying a bedtime schedule or temporarily pausing the internet.

You can create and manage all groups in Wi-Fi Controls, which you can find:

On the My BT app:

  1. Open the app.
  2. On the Broadband tab select Plan details.
  3. Then select Hub Manager.
  4. You are now on Wi-Fi Controls.
  5.  Select the groups widget.

To create a group select the group widget from the dashboard, then Add a new group, choose a name for your group and press Save group.

You'll then see a list of all the devices that are connected, or that have been connected to your Wi-Fi network previously.  Select the devices you want to add and press Add to this group.

From the main dashboard, you can select a created group, and toggle pause Wi-FI.

When you pause groups, all devices in that group won't be able to get online, until you turn off pause Wi-Fi.

From the main dashboard, you can select a created group, and go into more options from clicking the 3 dots at the top.

Here you can:

  • pause/resume Wi-Fi for the group
  • set a group schedule. You see more information on Wi-Fi controls | Schedules
  • rename the group
  • delete group. You'll get a pop-up message to confirm, select OK to delete group
