Problems recording on BT TV

Why you might experience recording problems

Here are some common reasons why recordings might fail:

  • Recording schedule issues. If a recording or series link keeps failing, try cancelling it and setting it up again.
  • Poor Freeview signal. Check your Freeview signal if recordings aren't completing properly.
  • Low Power Mode. Recordings may not work as expected if your box is using Low Power Mode. Make sure it's set to Smart Mode.
  • Programmes running over. Live events, especially sport, can finish later than scheduled. To avoid missing the end, record the programme that's on after it.
  • TV Box Pro switched off. Check your TV Box Pro is switched on and hasn't been turned off at the plug.

Check your TV setup or broadband connection

Recording problems can also be caused by your TV setup or broadband connection.

We recommend:

Recording with an aerial or Internet Mode

The number of programmes you can record at the same time depends on how your TV Box Pro is set up.

  • If you're using an aerial, you can record up to four programmes at once.
  • If you're using Internet Mode without an aerial, you can record up to two programmes at once.

This limit helps maintain recording quality when using your broadband connection.

Recording unavailable?

This message means your BT TV Box no longer has permission to play the recording.

This can happen if you:

  • Remove a BT Extra
  • Change your TV package
  • Switch from aerial mode to Internet Mode

If you've recently made any of these changes, some recordings may no longer be available to watch.
