Managing your calling features
Digital Voice
You can check your calling and network features by logging into your BT account online. Or you can log in using the My BT app and select the Manage Digital Voice section.
You'll be able to see if you've activated or deactivated any calling features and change this if you want to.
Many of our calling features are included in our Digital Voice service at no extra cost and are activated automatically when you first take it.
If you have a Digital Voice handset, this video will guide you through its key features.
Home Phone Standard
If you have Home Phone Standard, please contact us to check or change your calling features.
Many of our calling features are included in our Home Phone Standard service at no extra cost and are activated automatically when you first take it.
Voicemail is included for all Home Phone customers, Digital Voice and Home Phone Standard.
Voicemail is an answering service that answers calls when you're away from the phone or engaged on another call.
Note: You'll know you have a message in your mailbox if you get an interrupted dial tone when you use your handset.
The screen - if you're using one of our Advanced or Essential Digital Home Phones - will also show if you have any messages. Press the Voicemail button to get them.
For more information, see All about BT Voicemail.
Call Protect is included for all Home Phone customers, Digital Voice and Home Phone Standard.
Call Protect helps to prevent unwanted nuisance calls. By managing your settings, you can decide which calls you want to send to a junk voicemail.
We've enhanced nuisance call management using AI-powered screening technology. This means most handsets will be able to display a nuisance call warning or the name of the business calling if the business is registered with our partner, Hiya.
If you're using one of our Advanced or Essential Digital Home Phones, press the call protect button to go into your junk voicemail (1572). You can also press this button when the phone rings or while on a call, to block the number and add it to your Personal Blocklist.
For more information, see All about Call Protect for Digital Voice.
Caller Display is included for all Home Phone customers, Digital Voice and Home Phone Standard.
Caller Display shows you the caller's number, so you can decide whether to pick up the phone or leave it to your answering service. If the caller is listed in your handset's Address Book, Caller Display will also display the name of the person trying to contact you.
Note that numbers will not be displayed if the call is from payphones, some switchboards, non-BT networks or where a caller's number is withheld.
Caller Display is free for all Home Phone customers.
For more information, see All about Caller Display.
Call Diversion is included for all Home Phone customers, Digital Voice and Home Phone Standard.
Call Diversion lets you divert your calls to almost any phone, including your mobile. Call Diversion can also divert calls while your phone line is in use.
For more information, see All about Call Diversion.
Call Waiting is included for all Home Phone customers, Digital Voice and Home Phone Standard.
Call Waiting tells you when other callers are trying to get through. You'll hear a discreet beep when someone tries to reach you while you're on the phone. You can choose whether or not to take the call.
For more information, see All about Call Waiting.
3 Way Calling is included for all Home Phone customers, Digital Voice and Home Phone Standard.
3 Way Calling is a quick and easy conference calling for up to 3 people - all three people can contribute, and there's no need to make multiple calls. It's included with your Home Phone package; you simply pay for the additional caller, unless this cost is covered by an inclusive call minutes package.
For more information, see All about 3 Way Calling.
Permanent Withold Number is included for all Home Phone customers, Digital Voice and Home Phone Standard.
You can control if your number is shared with the people you call with Permanent Withhold Number.
Find out more about Withholding your number for callers.
Multi Call is a new feature for Digital Voice customers only.
If you have more than one Digital Home Phone connected to your Hub, two people can make separate outgoing calls at the same time. Or you can be on the phone and another incoming call can still get through and ring any of your other Digital Home Phones.
This is great for busy households who don't want to miss important calls. But if you'd rather stick to just one call at a time, you can change to this in the Settings menu, under Line settings.
If you had any other calling features on your previous voice service, they'll still work after you move to Digital Voice.
For more information, see All about Multi Call.
Call Barring lets you stop certain types of calls from being made from your home phone. You can also use it to bar all incoming calls.
This feature is inclusive for Digital Voice and Home Phone Standard customers, except for Pay as you go calling plans.
