Change or cancel your Direct Debit

Learn how to change your payment date, update bank details or cancel your BT Direct Debit. Follow simple steps and avoid issues.

Change your payment date

  1. Log in to My BT.
  2. Select Change when you pay.
  3. Choose a new payment date.

We’ll adjust your next bill if your payment date changes.

Please note:

  • You can’t change your Direct Debit if you’re a BT Mobile customer.
  • Changes may affect your next bill amount.

Change Direct Debit bank details

  1. Log in to My BT.
  2. Select Edit your bank details.
  3. Enter your:
    New account number.
    Sort code.
    BT account number (from your bill).
  4. Save your changes.

Cancel your Direct Debit

  1. Log in to My BT.
  2. Select Cancel Direct Debit.
  3. Confirm your request.

What happens next

It can take up to five working days to cancel. If a payment is due soon, we may still take it.

We’ll send you a confirmation letter.

Before you cancel

  • Make sure you have another way to pay your bill.
  • Unpaid bills may lead to charges or service restrictions.
