This article will help you troubleshoot remote control issues with your EE TV box or TV, ensuring seamless operation and uninterrupted viewing with easy-to-follow steps.
My remote control isn’t controlling the EE TV Box
Try these quick steps to fix the problem.
If you have an older remote control, make sure your remote is pointed directly at the TV box and not the TV itself. The Pro and Edge boxes shoudn't have this problem.
If your TV box is in a closed cabinet, try opening the door to make it easier for your remote to connect with the TV box.
Make sure you are using the right remote if you have multiple boxes. The remotes will be paired to their individual box and will not work on both at the same time.
If the light on your remote does not flash, then your batteries will need replacing.
If the remote control is intermittently working, then your batteries may be running out. If this happens you'll receive a notification if you're using the Pro or Edge.
To check your remote's battery level (only possible if the batteries aren't completely dead):
- Select the Home button on the remote.
- Go to settings (cog in the top-right).
- Find the 'connected devices' option and select remote.
The remote control we provide for the EE TV Box Pro and TV Box Edge pairs with the TV box using Bluetooth.
Follow these steps to reset your remote control:
- Press the Home and number 9 buttons at the same time
- Hold them down until the LED around the EE icon flashes purple 3 times
Follow these steps to pair your remote control with your TV box:
- Press the Home and number 7 buttons at the same time
- Hold the buttons until the LED around the EE icon flashes purple 3 times
If you have an older TV box (TV Recordable Box, TV Recordable Box 4k or the TV Box) and remote
- Press and hold the AD, SUB, and BT Player buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds. The blue light will then flash three times.
- Release the buttons, and the light will flash three times again. That’s it, your remote is reset.
After resetting your remote, you'll need to connect it again to your TV.
If the light on your remote does flash but your remote still isn’t working, this means the issue is probably with your TV box and not the remote itself.
Restart the TV box by switching off at the mains and waiting 30 seconds before switching back on.
Your remote’s signal can be affected by settings on your TV, such as energy saving mode and screen dimming.
See your TV user guide for instructions on how to turn them off.
Setting up your EE TV remote to control your TV
You can programme your EE TV remote to control certain functions on your TV, like the volume and channel.
Pairing your EE TV Box Pro remote with your TV
The EE TV Box Pro remote should connect to most TVs automatically.
If yours does not pair, you can reset your remote by holding down the Home and 9 buttons until the light on your remote flashes.
If resetting your remote does not work, you'll need to use your TV remote and EE TV remote separately.
