BT Hub Threat Protect Terms and Conditions

 

1. What the service is

Hub Threat Protect is a service for BT Broadband customers. It helps protect devices that connect to your home broadband through an BT Smart Hub, including PCs, laptops, tablets, iPads, smartphones, mobile devices and smart home (IoT) devices.

2. When the service starts

The service will start when you activate it through My BT using your BT ID. In some cases, we may switch it on automatically when you take out BT Broadband with us.

3. Turning the service off

If you don’t want to use BT Hub Threat Protect, you can turn it off at any time in the My BT app. 

4. Service availability

We work hard to provide a reliable service, but we can’t guarantee that BT Hub Threat Protect will always be fault-free.  If something goes wrong, we’ll fix any reported faults as quickly as reasonably possible.

5. Reporting problems

6. Updates and improvements

From time to time, we may update or improve BT Hub Threat Protect. If we do, we may give you instructions to follow where needed.

7. Warning pages

When you’re browsing online, you may see a warning page if you try to visit a website that we, or our security partners, classify as malicious.

8. Continuing to a blocked site

The warning page will explain that the site may be harmful and suggest you browse elsewhere. You can choose to continue anyway, which will give temporary access to the site for up to 60 minutes. After that, you may see the warning page again.

9. Viewing blocked activity

Attempts to visit malicious websites and other blocked device threats will be shown in the BT app for up to 30 days. You can also allow temporary access to specific malicious sites for individual devices using the BT app.

10. iOS limitations

BT Hub Threat Protect doesn’t work on iOS devices running iOS 15 or later when browsing using Safari, or for some app traffic, if iCloud Private Relay is switched on.

11. Website categorisation

Some websites are classified as malicious by our third-party security partners. We’re not responsible for how websites are categorised, or for guaranteeing that any website not flagged as malicious will be safe to use.

12. Using sites at your own risk

If you choose to continue to a site after seeing a warning, you do so at your own risk. We’re not responsible for any loss or damage you may suffer as a result of visiting these sites.
