Got a text from BT?

The UK’s ageing and unreliable copper landline network is being retired.
When BT contacts you, take action to avoid disruption to your home phone or broadband services

Further information and support are available on our Connected Together website, or by calling 0330 1234 150.

We might contact you from different numbers if we've found an issue with your service or in response to something you've done, like placing an order or reporting a fault. It's one of the ways we keep you up to speed with what's going on.

If you get a message from us and reply, we won't charge you for it. But other network providers may charge you at their standard rate or include the message in your allowance. Contact your network provider for more details.

If you have questions about a text you received or want to verify its authenticity, the safest approach is to contact us on  0300 123 4150 and speak to our BT customer services team.

Forward any suspicious texts to 7726 (this is a free governement service used by communication providers to investigate spam and scams).

Digital Voice customers you can log in to your account via the official BT website or MyBT App to check for any notifications or service updates.

Home Phone Standard customers, please call us.

Got a text message from Openreach?

Some older devices may show a phone number instead of the Openreach name.

If you'd like to check that a text message is genuine, you can compare the number with the list of numbers Openreach uses to contact customers on their website.

Openreach may send text messages about:

  • engineer appointments
  • broadband installations
  • faults

If the number matches one on the list, you can be confident it's from Openreach.
