What are 0844 numbers?

The UK’s ageing and unreliable copper landline network is being retired.
When BT contacts you, take action to avoid disruption to your home phone or broadband services

Further information and support are available on our Connected Together website, or by calling 0330 1234 150.

Calls to 0844 numbers are service numbers for contacting organisations. They include two charges:

  • Access charge - This is the amount we charge you for connecting your call and is charged per minute.
  • Service charge - This is set by the organisation you're calling. They must tell you what this charge is. For example, they may state: "Calls cost 20p per minute, plus your phone company's access charge."

To work out the total cost of your call, simply add the access charge to the service charge.

You can watch a short video explaining the change.
