Once your SIM or handset has arrived you are almost ready to start using it. Depending what type of customer you are, your SIM may need activating.
If you ordered your replacement SIM because it was lost, stolen or broken, the SIM card will be pre-activated and ready to use.
Make sure your device is turned off, put the SIM in and turn it back on again.
You’ll see the BT logo and signal bars at the top of your screen, and you will be able to send messages and make calls.
If you ordered your replacement SIM because you needed a different size or hadn’t received one from a previous order, your SIM will need to be activated. To do this, turn your device off and insert the SIM, then turn it on again.
Head to bt.com/go, log-in with your BT ID and password and then click 'Activate.'
Activation usually only takes an hour or two but can take up to 24 hours. You’ll know your SIM is activated when you can see the BT logo and signal bars at the top of your screen. You will be able to send messages and make calls.
Once your SIM has been activated, we’ll send you a confirmation.
While you are waiting for your phone to activate, you can use it to go online by connecting to your home wi-fi.
