Learn about Netflix

Whether you're a new or existing EE TV customer, you can enjoy Netflix as part of one of our TV packages.

If you sign up to an Entertainment, Big Entertainment or Full Works package, then your package will automatically include Netflix. If you sign up to a package that doesn't have Netflix included and have a TV box you can add Netflix to your BT bill as an Extra, with a monthly-rolling subscription.

Subscribing to Netflix through EE TV will allow you to watch Netflix via the Netflix App on your TV box, as well as on many of your favourite internet enabled devices such as smartphones, tablets and computers.

If you already have Netflix, there's no need to cancel. If you have Netflix with a third party, then you'll need to cancel this directly with them.

If you sign up for Entertainment, Big Entertainment or a Full Works package, then Netflix is automatically included in your monthly TV and broadband bill.

If you've purchased Netflix as an Extra, then this is a monthly-rolling subscription. Extras can be added and removed from your package month-to-month. Subscription charges will appear under the 'TV and entertainment' section on your BT bill.

You may notice that the dates are slightly different to other products on your bill, as this depends on when you activate your Extra.

You can get more help with your BT bill here >

Yes, you can log in using an existing active account. Just enter your existing account details into the Netflix app on your TV box by selecting Sign in.

You can watch Netflix on any device that supports the Netflix app, including another TV Box if you have our Extra Box add-on. However, the number of screens you can watch it on at the same time depends on the plan you have. To find out more visit www.netflix.com/help.

If you have parental controls set up on your TV box, you'll be prompted to enter your parental control PIN every time you enter the Netflix player on your box.

You can find help resetting your PIN here >

If you've signed up for Entertainment or Big Entertainment, then a Netflix Basic plan is included in your package. If you've signed up for Full Works, then a Netflix Standard plan is included in your package. You can see what’s included in each Netflix plan here:

  • A Netflix Basic plan, watch unlimited movies and TV shows on one screen at a time in HD for those in your household.
  • A Netflix Standard plan, watch unlimited movies and TV shows on two screens at the same time in Full HD  for those in your household.
  • A Netflix Premium plan, watch unlimited movies and TV shows on four screens at the same time in 4K Ultra HD for those in your household. Subject to your internet service and device capabilities.

You can also choose to upgrade your Netflix plan before checkout, at the activation stage or through My BT or via Netflix. You can retain your existing Netflix plan, if you have Netflix Standard or Premium.

Struggling to activate? You can manage your Netflix plan in the 'TV and Sport' section within plans and subscriptions on My BT, or open the Netflix app on your TV box.

If you take Netflix as an Extra, you can choose from:

  • A Netflix Standard with adverts plan, watch and download movies and TV shows with a few ads on two screens in Full HD.

You can also choose your Netflix plan when opening the Netflix app on your TV box and change this plan via Netflix.

You will need a compatible device or TV Box (EE TV Box Pro or EE TV Box Mini) to watch Netflix Standard with adverts.

Setting up and using Netflix

If you've signed up to Netflix through EE TV then you need to activate your service for it to commence. Activating your Netflix account is important so that you can either set up a Netflix account or bring your existing Netflix account over.

To do this simply check your order confirmation email. You can also activate it by going onto the TV and Sport section of My BT. You'll be asked to enter an email address and password. You'll also get the option to upgrade your Netflix plan.

If you've added Netflix to your EE TV account via BT.com, with us in store, or over the phone, you will need to activate your account on your TV box.

If you signed up to Netflix through the Netflix App on your TV box, you simply need to log in to start watching.

If you have an existing Netflix account and want to bring this over to BT, you will need to sign up using the same email as your existing Netflix account. If you have a Basic, Standard, or Premium Netflix plan, you'll get the option to keep this plan and you will keep your account details including your personal profiles and the history of the shows you're watching. If you have Netflix with a third party, then you'll need to cancel this directly with them.

When you activate your Netflix account through BT, we will switch your Netflix billing to BT. If you have a Standard with adverts, Standard, or Premium Netflix plan, you'll get the option to keep this plan and you will keep your account details including your personal profiles and the history of the shows you're watching. If you have Netflix with a third party, then you'll need to cancel this directly with them.

You'll find the Netflix app in the 'Players & Apps' section of the EE TV Box Pro or EE TV Box Mini menu. Just press the blue Home button to get started.

Managing your Netflix account

Simply log into My BT and navigate to the 'TV and Sport' section under 'Your products'. You can then manage your EE TV account and change your Netflix plan.

If you have Netflix included in your TV package, any change in your plan will be reflected on your next BT bill. You’ll get a pro-rated refund for any days not used.

You can also manage your Netflix plan via Netflix directly.

Yes, you can change the email address you use to login to Netflix in the 'Account' section at www.netflix.com.

If you have Netflix as an EE TV Extra, you can only cancel your account by going directly to Netflix. Go to the 'Account' section on www.netflix.com to cancel. There are no cancellation fees, but you won't get a refund for partial months you've already paid for. However, you will have access to the service until the end of the month you've paid for.

If you were paying for Netflix before taking EE TV, Netflix will get in touch about continuing your subscription. If not, your Netflix subscription will stop at the same time as your EE TV service.

This error happens if you're streaming an advert supported Netflix plan on a non-compatible device or TV box.

You will need an EE TV Box Pro or  EE TV Box Mini to stream Netflix Standard with adverts.

Help and support

It's really easy to reset your login details if you've forgotten them. Just go to www.netflix.com/help and search for 'forgotten password' or 'forgotten email'.

You'll need to provide some details then Netflix will usually reset this for you in within a few minutes.

When you move home there's no break in your Netflix service, as you can still access it on any Netflix compatible device. If your Netflix is included in your TV package then remember to tell BT when you are moving house to ensure no break in service.

Netflix charges may not align with your BT billing cycle but don't worry; you won't be overcharged. Alternatively, you may have chosen to upgrade the Netflix plan that is included in your TV package, this will show in your BT bill.

You can get more help with your BT bill here >

Please refer to the Netflix Help Centre for advice on parental controls at www.netflix.com/help.

If you are a customer today that already has the Netflix monthly-rolling Extra and you move to one of our new Netflix bundled packages, then we will automatically activate your account. This means there will be no break in service, and you'll be charged for the same plan of Netflix that you're enjoying today. So you don't need to do anything.

If you have activated Netflix through your EE TV package, then move to a Netflix Extra, you will need to reactivate. If you are seeing the request to add a payment method via Netflix, you will also need to follow these steps to reactivate. Don't worry, you won't lose any content by reactivating Netflix. Steps to reactivate Netflix as an Extra:

  • Go to your 'Account' on www.netflix.com and select Cancel your membership.
  • Then, select Finish cancellation.
  • Sign out of your Netflix account on your TV Box. The sign out button is in the 'Get Help' section at the bottom of the Netflix app.
  • After you sign-out, you will now be able to reactivate and sign-in to your account.

The sign out button is in the 'Get Help' section at the bottom of the Netflix app.
