We’ve made some updates to BT Email recently that'll continue to deliver a secure and reliable service with improved performance and usability. These changes allow us to stay up-to-date and support the latest software.
Not all of our customers will see the changes at the same time.
Things may seem different at first but we hope that once you get used to them, these changes will offer a safer and smother email service.
The changes we've made
Search
This can now be found in the same place in all the BT Email tabs providing a more consistent feel.
Messages
These will be grouped by days for the past 7 days, making it easier for you to find things.
The key buttons you’ll need to create, reply and forward email messages will remain clearly visible at the top of each tab.
A quick move feature and message body preview, will make handling and moving your messages easier.
When selecting multiple messages, only the message visible on your screen will be selected.
To select more messages, you need to scroll down the page and then hold the 'Shift' key on your keyboard while clicking the last message you want to select. This will select all the messages in between as well.
Check sender's address
You can find the email address of the person who sent you an email by moving your cursor under their name. A small box will pop up and show you the email address the message was sent from.
Sending to a distribution group
If you wish to send to an existing distribution group, from the compose window click on TO or CC and locate the group in the Address Book then press Select.
Coloured email icons (Avatars)
You can disable the coloured icons that appear next to each message in your mailbox by going to Settings > Mail and unchecking the option "Show avatar in message list".
Next message gets ticked after deleting
When you delete or move a message, we’ll automatically select the next message in the list. You can however turn this off by going to Settings > Mail and unchecking the option "View next mail after delete / move".
Printing messages on mobile and tablet
Unfortunately, you can't print messages from the mobile & tablet version of BT Webmail.
You have two options:
- you can either print from a desktop computer,
- or use the BT Email App instead (available from the App Store on Apple and Android devices).
Blocked images
If images aren’t showing up on your messages, you can fix this by going to Settings > Mail > Block Images and choose "Allow all images" then click "Save".
Text formatting
When writing an email, if the text isn’t formatting correctly, switch from plain text to rich text by going to Settings > Mail and ticking the option for “Compose messages in rich text format”.
Optimal screen resolution
For the best experience when using BT Email, adjust your browser zoom to 100% and use the "Make Text Bigger". Additionally, change the "Make Everything Bigger" settings in Windows to 100% .
If however you have these settings too high, you may haver some display problems such as the send button not showing.
Software requirements
To ensure your BT Email works efficiently, please make sure you’re using one of the web browsers listed below in the table. If you're using older software, your email service may no longer work.
